WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHRISTIAN COUNSELING AND LIFE COACHING?
Counseling addresses mental health issues such as depression, anxiety grief, etc., while coaching might review the past but primarily helps individuals work towards future personal changes and goals.

WHAT IS A "CHRISTIAN COUNSELOR"?
I am a Board Certified Christian Counselor and Educator, which is not the same a a Licensed Professional Counselor. As a Christian Counselor, I use a faith-based approach to counseling that integrates Christian values, Scripture, and prayer with evidence-based psychological techniques to help individuals address emotional, mental, and spiritual challenges. At times, I use a variety of tools and techniques to help people change the things that they seek to change. At other times I recognize that clients may lack life skills such as communication skills, conflict resolution skills, skills to enhance and sustain intimacy, and skills in the management of their thought life and emotions.Counselors may teach clients new skills to help them overcome the problem that brings them to counseling. In this role, I recognize that some clients may lack life skills such as communication skills, conflict resolution skills, skills to enhance and sustain intimacy, and skills in the management of their thought life and emotions.I aim to teach clients new skills to help them overcome the problem that brings them to counseling. As a professional Christian counselor, I am committed to respect each person’s right to self determination and the exercise of free will regarding their faith and their life.It is not a requirement that a potential client hold the same beliefs and I do in order to receive counseling. It is understood though that my suggestions, techniques, etc. could include biblically based influences.
WHAT IS A "LIFE COACH"?
In this role, I combine faith and actionable strategies to help you align your personal, professional, and spiritual goals with biblical values. I use action plans, strength assessments, and other tools to achieve goals that are set for yourself.I am here to walk with you through the process of reaching your goal(s). The process involves implementing various tried-and-true strategies to help you get 'unstuck', focused, and free in your thoughts so you can be who God created you to be.
Often times, these two overlap, depending on specific situations. Each case is different. We can discuss which might benefit you during the initial consultation.

What's In a name
What does 'BARNABAS COVE' mean?
I spent a lot of hours researching a name. The first 50+ names I thought of were already taken or something closely related was already listed in my internet searches.I had specific parameters for the name I wanted. I didn't want some random name with no clear meaning. It had to be an available domain name, it had to be short and memorable, I wanted something that would stick in your mind, and it had to make sense. After a few frustrating days of thinking, I came up with Barnabas Cove.
In the Bible, Barnabas was a Levite from Cyprus whose real name was Joseph, but the apostles called him Barnabas, meaning “son of encouragement”.He served as a mentor, and missionary in the early church, playing crucial roles in accepting Paul’s conversion and launching the first Gentile mission. His nickname wasn't chosen lightly. When they called Joseph “Barnabas,” they recognized something essential about his character that would define his entire ministry. The Greek word “parakletos” — from which we get Barnabas — means one who comes alongside to help, comfort, and encourage. This wasn’t just a pleasant personality trait; this was Barnabas living out the very nature of the Holy Spirit, who Jesus called our Paraclete. (Adapted from The Bible Christian)The name BARNABAS seemed perfectly fitting for my counseling and life coaching ministry. My goal is to encourage those in their faith and in their life.

I also had a vision of being out to sea, with the waves swirling all about, and being tossed and thrown about until finding respite and relief, in an inlet or a small cove ... a place to exhale. These two things led to the name BARNABAS COVE.If you need to be encouraged, uplifted, listened to and need to find a place to exhale and lay your thoughts, feelings, burdens down, then contact BARNABAS COVE CHRISTIAN COUNSELING AND LIFE COACHING.
